Ms. Shanda Simmons
As a proud alumnus of The Berkeley Institute and proud parent of an S3 student, it gives me great pleasure to begin my first term on the PTSA as an S3 Parent Representative. I have served in various capacities on PTAs throughout my children’s primary, middle and high school years.
As an educator in the Bermuda Public School system for 30 years, teaching in both the regular and learning support classrooms as well as my position of deputy principal, I am committed to serving the children of Bermuda and preparing them for world leadership.
As both a parent and educator I know the value of parental support and hope that during my time of service I can encourage more parents to become actively involved in this very important segment of the village. Experience has shown me that the key to any young person’s success is the positive involvement of his/her parents.

As an alumnus of the Berkeley Institute and past captain of "The Best House", "THE GOLD HOUSE" I am pleased to serve on the Berkeley Institute PTSA. I am also a proud parent of two sons, one who graduated in 2017 and one who is in S3.1 previously served on the Harrington Sound PTA for 9 years in the capacity of Public Relations Officer and Assistant Treasurer. Taking a break from PTA I took on the role of Vice President of The Flyers Track Club for three years. During my tenure at Flyers Track Club the parent meetings attendance was consistently 85% or above and through successful fundraising efforts the club was able to totally finance, with no contributions from parents overseas track trips for the whole three years. It is my intention to bring my enthusiasm and dedication towards parent & student attendance and fundraising to the committee, and for S3 to have the best representation of both these initiatives.
