The Berkeley Institute Celebrates Founders Day

In line with celebrating the illustrious legacy and history, The Berkeley Institute celebrates Founders Day, Friday, October 20, 2023. During this celebration, we acknowledge and honour the 11 men who came together in 1879 with the purpose of developing an institution that would provide opportunity for excellent education for ALL in Bermuda.

A mere 18 years later, on September 6, 1897, The Berkeley Institute officially opened in Samaritan's Lodge on Court Street to fifteen boys and twelve girls.

Over the past 126 years, this dedication to education and excellence for all has lead The Berkeley Institute on a journey that has lead us to graduating thousands of Bermudians who have become leaders both locally and globally, being instrumental in change in their communities.

We are immensely proud of our heritage, and forever grateful for those men with the foresight to establish an institution that would pave the path for generations.
