JOB SUMMARY
The Berkeley Institute, a diverse senior school with a rich heritage and tradition of excellence, requires a Director of Facilities within our Facilities Management Department.
Under the supervision of the Director of Finance and Operations, and in accordance with relevant legislation and established policies, procedures, and standards, the Director of Facilities oversees the Facilities Management Department. This role ensures that The Berkeley Institute's facilities are well-maintained and clean for employees, students, and the public.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing planned and preventative maintenance of facilities, buildings, and grounds.
- Arranging procurement of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, landscaping, and custodial cleaning services.
- Overseeing the School's security and safety operations and contractor services.
- Managing new projects to upgrade and enhance the physical plant of The Berkeley Institute.
- Performing financial and human resource administrative duties within the department.
- Additionally, the Director of Facilities performs other duties as requested by the Director of Finance and Operations.
REQUIREMENTS:
The postholder must possess a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, such as a City and Guilds designation. Additionally, they must have at least five (5) years of demonstrated supervisory or management experience in engineering, construction management, facilities management, or a related field, and should be proficient in operating within a computerized environment.
The Director of Facilities must have knowledge of current building codes and technology, safety standards and practices, and all applicable government codes and regulations. This includes expertise in the operation of HVAC systems, backup power, waste management systems, and other building mechanical equipment.
